STEM educations encouraged the entrepreneurial spirit

Creativity and proactivity are the basic qualities of an entrepreneur, after several educations on these topics, the time has come for teachers and students to try their hand at entrepreneurial waters, but without risk.

The first in a series of educations on entrepreneurship, was dedicated to students, who can start honing their entrepreneurial skills from the beginning. Everyone can do entrepreneurship, but not everyone can succeed, as two groups of students - roboticists and gardeners - learned about. It is not their extracurricular activities that define them, but the fact that among both groups there are potentially gifted students and students with difficulties in learning and development.

It was emphasized that giftedness can make it easier for future entrepreneurs to enter the world of business, but if it is not directed - it does not necessarily guarantee success. On the other hand, it was pointed out that a number of successful corporations and start-ups were founded by people who throughout their lives struggled with various forms of difficulties in development or learning, but this did not stop them on the way to achieving business results.

Each of the groups listened to customized education - "Children and entrepreneurship" and "Children with disabilities and entrepreneurship".

The teachers of the three schools involved in the project "STEM - my education" also had the opportunity to try their hand at entrepreneurship at the two-day training course "Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in school". To begin with, the teachers were randomly assigned "firms" that produced hats and had to fight for their position on the market as in a game of monopoly - raising loans, monitoring production, product quality, sales and profit distribution.

Entrepreneurs can be greedy, wasteful, thrifty and cautious, and when it comes to teachers, they also showed in their entrepreneurial game which category they belong to.

Are they non-entrepreneurial because they work in school?

Exactly the opposite!

Entrepreneurship does not necessarily mean gathering material profit, as was heard at the training, but any investment in knowledge, satisfaction and creation of additional value.

And the project within which these trainings were held is an example of entrepreneurship, because without participation in the project, knowledge and money that are not available in those minimal frameworks would not have been obtained. The project "STEM - my education" was financed by the Kingdom of Norway through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, and as part of the public call "Strengthening STEM skills in primary schools".
