6th Primary School Varaždin has been dedicated to developing healthy habits and ecological way of thinking in our students, their parents and the community.
For more than 10 years we proudly bear the Green Flag with help and sponsorship of 'Vindija', our eco-godmother, the company that has been the sponsor of this project for the 4th year in a roll. Ingredients used in the project have been supplied by 'Vindija' 's business system.
Our school regularly encuorages activities through which we want to emphasize the importance of healthy eating, moving and exercising in everyday life.
Through the Healthy Week Project we intend to unite every single one of our efforts under a simple goal: to encourage the pupils of 6th Primary School Varaždin to prepare healthy meals by themselves and to exercise every day, as well as to do housework chores on their own. The project has a competitive character because at the end of the week a group of students who are best at cooking and housework chores will be chosen.
To encourage the students to develop a more active attitude towards food, pupils in grades 1 to 4 prepare their meals on their own and eat them in their classrooms for the whole week. These activities have caused a great interest for introduction of Home Economics in our school. As far as sports activities are concerned, besides usual sports we have started an Ethno Group in which all students and teachers of grades 1 to 6 learn local folk dances, exercise and have great fun, and at the end of the school year they demonstrate what they have learned to the parents and the community.
The program of Healthy Week lasted from 7th to 11th March 2016 from 7:30 to 10:30 every day, in the following order: pupils of grades 1 and 5 compete on Monday, pupils of grades 2 and 6 on Tuesday, grades 3 and 7 on Wednesday, grades 4 and 8 on Thursday, and on Friday the daily winners compete in the finals.
