Healthy eating habits

Dr. Đekić visited our school and spoke about healthy eating which was very interesting and informative.  


Dr. Đekić said that if we eat well and properly following the food pyramid, we are building beauty from the inside. Proper eating habits are what keeps our bodies healthy. She also said that eating only junk food can cause lots of health problems such as diabetes and obesity. 

The food pyramid shows us how much we should eat from each of the food groups.  Those groups are:

CARBOHYDRATES: bread, cereals, potatoes, pasta –  they give you energy so they should be 1/3 of what you eat every day.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: they give us vitamins and minerals and they also should be 1/3 of what we eat.

DAIRY  PRODUCTS: milk, cheese, yoghurts

PROTEINS: meat and fish

Dairy products and proteins help our body grow and repair itself (such as when we get sick, break a bone ….)

FATS, OILS and SWEETS: we should eat them only sometimes.

Dr. Đekić also mentioned that we should drink 6-8 cups of water a day which will make us think better and that is why we should drink water when we are in school.

Doctors say that ‘’we are what we eat’’ so we should stay away from junk food so we don’t become junk!!!
