The European Youth Forum in Trogen (EYFT) takes place from 4th - 11th March 2023. 100 young people and 20 accompanying teachers from 10 countries, including delegations from Ukraine, Turkey, Hungary, Croatia and Latvia alongside a delegation from Kantonsschule Trogen (Switzerland) prepare ideas for the Europe of tomorrow during this week.
The youngsters present their solutions in a public presentation on Thursday 9th March. The EYFT in Pestalozzi Children’s Village restarts this week after three years of interruptions due to the pandemic. However, the trusted concept remains exactly the same: Together with Kantonsschule Trogen, the 100 young people from various partner schools of the Children's Village focus on the future of Europe. An observer asks one question when looking at the situation in Europe as a whole: Where do the youngsters start? Participants receive input in a range of workshops that focus on democracy, peace, thinking across borders, ecology and the critical use of media to create the necessary foundation. These are educational matters in which the Pestalozzi Children’s Village and its educational programmes have used their resources both in Switzerland and all over the world for decades. Workshop topics cover matters such as truth & the media, the climate crisis, and how Europe sounds and appears. Another focus is on peacefully living together, which is also actively demonstrated in shared excursions or in day-to-day living in the Children's Village. What ideas do tomorrow’s decision-makers have? The ideas from tomorrow’s decision-makers for today’s world, and whether these ideas are better than previous ones, can be discovered on Thursday afternoon, on 9th March 2023 at Kantonsschule Trogen. Participants present their results from the workshops, then prepare specific action plans that should lay the foundations for change which encourages peaceful cooperation in Europe and worldwide.
