Osnovna škola "Bol" Split

Students will research local attractions and create short video where they act as first as virtual tour guides and then on-site tour guides and share information with visitors. Students will take pictures of a chosen spot and add a voice recording with key points about the spot.

Later, they will be tourist guides of their own hometown – they will show the town to their peers both in English and Croatian, depending on the age of students. After the sightseeing, they will have a treasure hunt in mixed grpups to check how much they have learned. A prize and a certificate will be awarded to the winning team.

Main objectives:

One of the aims is to promote geography among students and its importance in everyday life. It also encourages students to implement the knowledge gained through English and Geography classes in specific situations improving their lifelong learning skills.

Treasure hunt is a collaborative team buliding activity where atudents are faced with problem-solving challenges. The objective is to complete the tasks as a team. Each task guides the teams to the next and ultimately the hidden treasure. Team members must quickly figure out that the best way to complete the adventure before others is by working together as one. Not only they learn the concept of teamwork and cooperation, but they also have a lot of fun.

Those who organize are: Geography enthusiasts, Erasmus+/eTwinning group (5-8 grade), teachers Tihana Modrić and Martina Galić

Estimated starting time (local time): 4:00 PM (on-site tour guide and treasure hunt)

Expected duration: around 5 hours in total

Event program:

Pre-activity (10-14th April  2023):

• 120 minutes for gathering interesting information (in groups) and making a draft for the on-site tour
• 60 minutes for creating a short video

Main activity (18th April 2023):

• cca. 60 minutes for guided tour
• cca. 60 minutes (or more) for treasure hunt (depending on the tasks given)
• cca. 30 minutes task analysis and evaluation
