Since September 26th is traditionally celebrated as the European Day of Languages, the students of Branch School Nikola Tesla from Moravice dedicated a whole week to that special day. They learnt a lot of new things, repeated what they already knew, and also had a great time. Our youngest, first, and second graders made paper dolls in folk costumes from European countries and, in addition to the appearance of traditional costumes, learnt the names of these countries and their traditional dishes. Third and fourth graders became world travellers and created their passports in which they entered the countries they wanted to visit – they found out what the flags look like and some interesting things related to the selected countries. The fifth graders played a guessing game Where's Wally? in which, based on the flag and some sights and landmarks, they had to tell which country it was. The seventh graders also tried their luck in finding Wally but also in trying to guess how many languages some celebrities speak. The fifth, sixth, and eighth-grade students tried their hand at the Talk to me! pub quiz full of interesting questions on languages, history, geography, and sports and achieved enviable results. But the most important was that all the students had lots of fun!
As Edward De Waal said, With languages, you are at home anywhere.
So true.
This school year the fourth graders and the teacher started an extra-curricular activity of the reading club. Let us tell you something about us!
We are Jana, Ira and Aleksandar. We are 10. We are in Class 4. We are super cool!
Why? Because we are the Little Bookworms!
Every Friday we meet in the English classroom where we sit in our cute little tent with the light bulbs on or on our panda carpet and we read books. We love reading books in English. It's so much fun! We also do a little bit of writing and a whole lot of speaking.
Look at our video attached to this news and step into the magical world of Winnie the Pooh!
Dear pupils!
Another school year is here and it's time to plunge into new lessons, workshops, presentations...
I hope you had an amazing summer and feel ready to start the new school year.
I wish you a successful and fruitful 2024/2025 school year! Best of luck! May the Force be with you!
On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
