Bratislava is a capital of Slovakia. It became capital in 1969. It is main politic, cultural, art and life center of Slovakia. It is one of culturally the richest cities in Europe. It has been saved many beautiful monuments in old town, which speaks about its history under Hungarian empire and many museums. Mala Fatrá is one of most famous national parks in Slovakia. It is a mountain ridge long 50 km that is attractive to tourists, local and foreign. It is located in west Slovakia and its highest top is Velky Krivan, which is 1709 m high.
High Tatras are the only one real alpine mountain in east Alps and one of the smallest mountain ridges (260 km2/100 km2). Tight coronas ascend above wide glacial glens surrounded by ascents and lower acclivities are covered with closely forest. In high Tatras is about 30 glens and about 100 glaciers. Spissky hard (Zipser Burg) is the biggest castle in Slovakia. It was built in 1209 and Tatars disrupted it in 13th century. It was reconstructed in 15th century. Although castle was burnt in 1780, view and debris are beautiful. Its center is made by round tower in gothic style, pool for water, chapel and rectangular palace in romantic style located above cliff. Traditional Slovakian national instruments are fujara (2m long flute), gajdy (bagpipes) and konkvoka (incisive pastoral flute). National songs helped in maintenance of Slovakian language during Hungarian empire and in east Slovakia old national songs are important mark of Slovakian village, as well as wine and delicious dumplings.
