October 31 is the scariest day in the year and we love to dres up in colourful costumes, put on masks, do some DIY crafts and take part in bobbing for apples. But due to the current epidemiological situation we couldn't do many of those activities. Therefore, we decided we'll do our own classroom ghosts and show to the others how they are done.
We'll take you step by step. Maybe you decide to do your own ghost in the end.
1 You need a balloon, an aluminium foil and something you can use like a base for the ballon. We used plastic and/or glass containers for the base.
2 You need to blow your ballon and fasten it so it doesn't leak air. Then put the ballon on the base and fasten it with some adhesive tape.
3 Take some aluminium foil and roll it like a dough. You need to squeeze it as hard as you can so it becomes firm and easy to shape.
4 Use the adhesive tape to fasten 2 pieces of the rolled aluminium foil to the base.
5 Make the mixture of any kind of wood glue and water. Mix it. There mustn't be any blobs.
6 Take a piece of cloth and soak it in the bucket containing that mixture. Soak it well. Then squeeze the piece of cloth firmly so you remove all the liquid.
7 One person holds the base with the ballon and the aluminium foil while two other persons unwrap the cloth and slowly put it on the top of the ballon.
8 You need to form the cloth on the ballon so it becomes more ghost-like when it dries.
9 Leave it for 24 hours to completely dry. Remove the cloth from the base.
10 Cut out the eyes and the mouth for your ghost using a thick black piece of paper. You can make any shape you want.
11 Use a hot glue gun to stick the eyes and the mouth onto the cloth.
12 Your ghost is done! You can put it anywhere you want. You can even let it hang from the ceiling.
The 5th graders also carved their own class Jack-o'-lantern.
This is our way to wish you all a very Happy Halloween! Let's have a blast! Boo-hoo!
On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
